Many Women Floating in the River

“Maria, there are many women floating in the river…but you are the only one I want to stuff and stick on my wall…over the fireplace.” We can’t help you woo beautiful women, but we can get you some good food that inspires you. What’s cooking at week’s end for you: chicken carbonara, salmon croquettes, and barbecued shrimp stuffed po-boys!

What We’re Cooking for You at Week’s End

Thursday, July 30

Chicken carbonara served on penne pasta. Some chickens (the philosophical ones, to be sure) dream of a better world where they can cross the road without their motives being questioned or scrutinized. They, too, believe in the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of egginess (whatever that is). Our chicken carbonara is none so philosophically attuned as gastronomically exciting. Come see and visit with a deeply thoughtful chicken who’s fighting for chicken’s rights.

Friday, July 31 — Salmon & Shrimp Ruckus!

Salmon croquettes with an artichoke cream sauce and a fresh roasted vegetable medley. Lionel Richie came to singing at a young age, singing for family and friends at home or at the church house. Once he became famous, he’d sometimes retool The Commodores hits with food lines. One favorite he always sang for Aunt Imogene who made the best salmon croquettes. Crescendo the horns, make the key change, and “Well, I’m eaaaasaaay….aaah, aaah, aaah….I’m easy like salmon croquettes….aaah, aaah, aaah….I’m easy like salmon croquettes.” Aunt Mo-Gene never failed to produce the croquettes. Folks called her “Mo-Gene” because they always wanted “mo” of her food. Yep, true story…somewhere in neverland.

Barbecued shrimp stuffed po-boy and a house salad. As he came to woo her on a date, Max Goldman, played by Walter Matthau, told the beautiful Maria Ragetti, played by Sophia Loren: “There are many women floating in the river…but you are the only one I want to stuff and stick on my wall…over the fireplace.” Of course, then we hear the soulful whine from Max, “I didn’t say it right.” You don’t have to say the right words to get a shrimp po-boy, just come by with one word to remember (no, it’s not “please”). It’s a word that is practically perfect in every way.
