Weekly Meals

June 6, 2016 Weekly Menu

“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, I like carbonara and shrimp étouffée.” Yep. Totally a Muhammed Ali rap he prepared once upon a time for another heavyweight bout called “Rumble at the Table.” Here’s what we’ve got cooking for you this week: House-made hamburgers on jalapeño buns, chicken carbonara bake, and shrimp étouffée on rice.

Please take note, our schedule for early June will be a little different: Monday — Wednesday, June 6-8, 2016 we will be open for three days. We’ll be closed Thursday and Friday, June 9-10. We’ll re-open on Tuesday, June 14.

What We’re Cooking for You This Week

Please take note, our schedule for this week will be a little different:

Monday — Wednesday, June 6-8, 2016 we will be open for three days. We’ll be closed Thursday and Friday, June 9-10. Clélie and Zoë will be heading to New York for a few days. We’ll re-open Tuesday, June 14 for lunch with our regular schedule through the end of June.

Monday, June 6

House-made hamburgers on jalapeño buns with all the trimmings. Well, what’s better than home-made hamburgers, jalapeño buns, lots of trimmings? Nothing. Matthew McConaughey candidly offers, “Man who invented the hamburger was smart; man who invented the cheeseburger was a genius.” Yep. These burgers are definitely genius, and they will totally home-make your week. Who knows? Ole Matt might just show at the table for some hamburger grub.

Tuesday, June 7

Chicken carbonara bake with house salad and house-made bread. Deliciously baked in the oven, we have bow tie pasta swimming in a creamy white sauce with lots of fine friends — oven-roasted chicken breast, mushrooms, garden fresh veggies, and green onions. Oh, and by the way, a classic carbonara has some bacon added. Yep. You won’t want to miss this goodness! Our funny friend Vicki Lawrence jokes, “I do love pasta. It gets me into trouble. If I could give up pasta and bread, I’d look like Cate Blanchett.” Hey, our chicken carbonara will make you funny and lovely. No kidding. And on a Tuesday in June.

Wednesday, June 8

Shrimptastic Friday: Shrimp étouffée with rice ($15). Shrimp lovingly cooked with the tasty trinity veggies in a light roux with lots of parsley, and delectable Cajun spices in a delicious sauce served over Louisiana rice will make you boogie up and down the street. Our bud, the bard Willie Shakespeare wrote in Romeo and Juliet, “Like as the waves make towards the pebbl’d shore, so do our minutes, hasten to weekend.” Yes, or something like that. Our étouffée will help hasten you to weekend in style.

Famous Quotes

Our friend from Louisville, Muhammed Ali, offers, “It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe.” Well, an insight for self introspection. Our favorite, though, is this one: “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” Yep. Service makes the difference in our lives.
