Louisiana red beans & rice with hot water cornbread. Our red beans come fully and deeply flavored, cooked in our own house-made smoked ham hock stock that will totally set the week in motion. “Why punctuation matters: Some people find inspiration in cooking their families and their dogs. Others find inspiration in cooking, their families, and their dogs.” Well, there you have it.
We’ll have a house-made vegetable soup and shrimp salad available all week!
Sandwich & Wrap Wednesday, August 16, 2017
Sandwiches and wraps Wednesdays! We’ll have all our sandwiches and wraps available for lunch on Wednesdays. Try our very own version of the muffuletta made with our own bread and olive spread — then we add genoa salami, hard salami, smoked ham, swiss cheese, and hogs head cheese (it’s so much more fun than the traditional bologna). Created in 1906 by Salvatore Lupo, owner of Central Grocery on Decatur Street in New Orleans, the muffuletta quickly became a hugely popular sandwich. Lupo started with a traditional Sicilian round bread, then added olive salad and mortadella (similar to bologna), salami, ham, mozzarella, and provolone to make a little bit of sandwich history.

Chicken carbonara on bow tie pasta with house salad and bread. We have bow tie pasta swimming in a lovely and creamy white sauce with lots of fine friends — oven-roasted chicken breast, mushrooms, garden fresh veggies, and green onions. And, a little school gone wrong: ‘”We were driving to dinner when my five-year-old shouted, “Guess what! I know the F-word!” Saying to myself, “Now it starts,” I asked him what it was. He proudly announced, “Phonics!”’ Happy Thursday!

As school is starting in the area we thought we’d share a little joke: “I wanted to make a clever chemistry joke, but the best ones argon.” Right.
