Turkey and dressing with roasted broccoli and house salad. Thanksgiving comes a few days early with our own versions of turkey, dressing, roasted broccoli, and house salad. Someone once wrote, “Gratitude is a constant attitude of thankfulness and appreciation for life as it unfolds. Living in the moment, we are open to the abundance around us and within us. We express appreciation freely. We contemplate the richness of our life. In life’s trials, we seek to understand, to accept, to learn. Gratitude is a continual celebration of life.” What else is there to say?

Beef Lombardi with house salad and bread. All the things that make a casserole great comfort food: beef, egg noodles, fresh veggies, and cheese. The recipe comes from an enterprising caterer in Cleveland, Mississippi, and it’s become a favorite around the Southern table. Of course, it makes us think of Vince Lombardi, who had lots of wonderful quotes, like this one: “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.” Sounds like a great recipe for life.

Crab cakes with house salad and bread. A luscious mix of lump crab meat, Stone House Eats Bread crumbs, and seasonings covered with a delightful beurre blanc sauce and served with our own house bread. Greek poet Aristophanes once wrote, “You cannot teach a crab to walk straight.” We’re not sure what that means — maybe something like, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” Of course, this is the same guy who wrote, “Quickly, bring me a beaker of wine, so that I may wet my mind and say something clever.”
