Roasted chicken quarters with a savory-sweet reduction sauce, creamy polenta, roasted carrots and celery, and a house-made bread. Our specially seasoned and carefully roasted chicken quarters come served atop creamy polenta with some lovely roasted vegetables. Dolly Parton says, “No matter what, I always make it home for Christmas. I love to go to my Tennessee Mountain Home and invite all of my nieces and nephews and their spouses and kids and do what we all like to do — eat, laugh, trade presents and just enjoy each other… and sometimes I even dress up like Santa Claus!” Well, hello Dolly Claus!

We’ll have potato leek soup available all week! Just what we need for this turn to colder weather!

Beef Lombardi with house salad and bread. All the things that make a casserole great comfort food: beef, egg noodles, fresh veggies, and cheese. The recipe comes from an enterprising caterer in Cleveland, Mississippi, and it’s become a favorite around the Southern table. Author Washington Irving waxed, “Christmas is a season for kindling the fire for hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart.” Well, that’s exactly what this Beef Lombardi does — it’s just hospitality and charity in the belly which makes for a warm and inviting table.

Blackened catfish with a beurre blanc crabmeat sauce, dirty rice, and house bread, ($15) or open-faced barbecued shrimp over a fried green tomato on our house bread with house-made remoulade sauce ($15). Seasoned to perfection using Paul Prudhomme’s seasoning recipe, we blacken the catfish in a white hot cast iron skillet, serve it atop dirty rice, add a little beurre blanc sauce with crab meat, and put a little house bread on the side. Or, grab our fried green tomatoes, add some shrimp sautéed in our barbecue sauce, our house salad with house-made dressing, some remoulade sauce, and put it on our house-made bread. On December 17, 2017 Wilbur and Orville Wright made history at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina when they first flew their gas-powered biplane for a grand 12 seconds. What’s little known is their secret breakfast food on that momentous day: leftover fried catfish and a few morsels of crusty bread. We like to think it was catfish made the difference that day for the Wright brothers.

Leave it to the rocker Alice Cooper to give us some Christmasy insight: “The two most joyous times of the year are Christmas morning and the end of school.” Joy to the world on that one.
