“I’m a little verklempt because of the food!” Linda Richman croaked on Coffee Talk. What’s cooking in the kitchen for you this week: red beans & rice, chicken enchiladas, and barbecued shrimp stuffed po-boys!  What We’re Cooking for You This Week Monday, August 24  Special made Louisiana red beans & rice with honey buttermilk biscuits. Our red beans come full of flavor, cooked in our own house made pork stock. “When you’re a jet, you’re a jet all the way,” they sang, dancing and bobbing down the street. Yep. Who knew? It was beans powered all those fancy dance moves in West Side Story. Beans caused the fighting, too. And, yes, beans brought those star-crossed lovers Maria and Tony together. Tuesday, August 25 — Highlighting a Standard Bacon Chicken Ranch Salad. Take our grilled chicken and our salad of romaine and red leaf lettuce, add our house made ranch with some bacon mixed into the dressing, and you’ve got a fabulous lunch. For some extra zest, try the chipotle ranch on this salad! “I ‘spect you’ve been up all night readin’ …

Monday, June 29  Louisiana red beans & rice with S.H.E. bread. The Monday standard has arrived in our red beans and rice. These red beans and rice are like a JATO (Jet Assisted Take Off) rocket for the week. Yes, it’s a gas joke. But, play your cards right by eating some beans, and Maverick and Goose just might appear to take you for a ride — or Iceman and Slider if you like slick hair and big teeth. “Kick the tires and light the fires,” Maverick says to Goose as they drop by Stone House Eats to fill their bellies before jumping in their Tomcat to open up a can on some bad guys (political correctness prevents us from actually naming the “bad guys”). These …

Come on down you’re the next contestant! What We’re Cooking for You This Week Guess What! It’s Monday, June 22, and we’re now open for lunch! We hope you share our excitement! Monday, June 22  Louisiana red beans & rice with S.H.E. bread. The Monday standard has arrived in our red beans and rice. Watch out, it’s a great way to get started on the week. Well, the stories behind songs invariably challenge our easy realities. Dennis Linde wrote the original “Calling Baton Rouge,” and it was recorded by a few artists before Garth Brooks. Garth (we know him well) had “an experience” in Louisiana and decided to record the song. His “experience” was with food, not a “strange combination of a woman and a child.” So, he originally sang, “Operator won’t you put me on through I gotta’ make my order down to …
